Over 40 Years "Joy of living"!


In 1981 Jürgen and Peter wanted to furnish their student flat. Their enthusiastic passion for design furniture was a lot bigger than their budget. And there was no tasteful and affordable furniture to be found. „Let‘s build our own furniture and sell it in our shop.“ - The business idea was born. They entered and developed a new market segment: joyful and individual furnishing design at reasonable prices.

1981

Jürgen Reiter and Peter Schönhofen invent the sense of home: great furniture design at an attractive price with a good pinch of style eccentricity. The first KARE store opens in the heart of Munich in Maxvorstadt on 40 square meters.

1986

First trade fair stand : Heim und Handwerk, Munich.

1990

KARE presents itself for the first time to the international public at the most important furniture fair on German soil, the imm in Cologne. With success. In the following years, the company expands into the European region.

1994

The well-founded experience with own retail stores and the success of the assortment in the international furniture trade combined with the successful business field wholesale pave the way for the KARE Franchise System. KARE Vienna is the first KARE franchise store to go online.

 

1995

Salone del Mobile in Milan: A milestone on the way to the world and the development of international markets is the first appearance of the KARE brand at the most important furniture fair in the world. The company presents not only collections and trend worlds, but also the franchise system and begins to place shop-in-shop areas in the furniture trade.

2005

The creative ideas of the KARE brand are getting their own home. In Garching in the north of Munich, the company moves into its headquarters including a 30,000 square meter logistics center. The 3,000-square-meter showroom "Redboxx" is attached: the stage for the entire product range, the staged living ideas, event location, venue for three in-house trade fairs per year and think tank for the creative and decorating team.

2010/11

50 KARE Shops worldwide: the company remains on track for success with its franchise system. 2012 The KARE online store for Germany with furniture, lighting and home accessories launches. With the online store, the company further expands its multi-channel strategy.

2014/15

Opening of the KARE Kraftwerk in Munich. Award-winning flagship store with 10,000 square meters of sales space in the industrial architecture of a former power plant, including the restaurant "Die Küche im Kraftwerk" and huge panoramic terrace.
"Shops of the Year 2015" award from the German Retail Association for KARE Kraftwerk and its innovative and unconventional concept.

2016/17

KARE passes the mark of 100 stores in almost 50 countries, as well as another 100 shop-in-shop spaces in the furniture trade.

2018

Launch of the company-wide digitization offensive - Augmented and virtual reality: expansion of the KARE Room Designer app to include cutting-edge applications for inspiring and planning furniture purchases - Planning and advising like the pros: introduction of innovative tools for 3D furnishing advice.

2019

KARE goes viral: Shops and showroom are completely digitized for digital tours in high-resolution 3D image quality.

2021

KARE celebrates 40 years "joy of living"!

2022

Opening of the KARE City Studio, an innovative, and award-winning brand store as a touchpoint in a central downtown location.
